Howard, Moore & McDuffie, P.C. recognizes the importance of not-for-profit organizations in our community and has extensive experience working with organizations that require audit, accounting, tax and related consulting services. We are gratified by our not-for-profit clients successfully achieving their missions and counsel them in maintaining sound financial operations regardless of size.
Financial Reporting
We provide prepared, compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements for not-for-profits. We also perform agreed upon procedures when an organization wants us to evaluate selected financial information or internal procedures. We have expertise in financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as other accounting frameworks. We are experienced in auditing in accordance with government auditing standards and OMB A-133 Single Audit Act.
General Accounting
We provide monthly bookkeeping services as well as technical guidance to staff regarding the appropriate treatment of daily transactions. We also assist our bookkeeping clients in preparing for their annual financial statement audit. Because we audit not-for-profit organizations, we are a valuable resource in guiding our clients through the audit process and assisting them in strengthening their internal accounting controls to reduce audit findings.
Form 990 and Tax Compliance Issues
We prepare federal information and unrelated business income tax returns. We also provide consulting services for compliance issues impacting not-for-profit organizations including political organizations.
Consulting Services
We assist our clients in selecting the accounting software appropriate for their organization and customize the account structure to meet the accounting and reporting needs of management. We consult in the design and implementation of appropriate internal controls to ensure that assets are protected and financial information has integrity. We assist our clients in understanding complex accounting standards governing endowments, investments, contributions, functional expense allocations and financial statement presentation.
Community Volunteers
In addition to the services we provide to our clients, all of our shareholders and some of our employees serve on not-for-profit boards and committees and provide financial expertise.
